For
the last few years the hotels in Vegas have employed a new weapon to
take more dollars off their trusty guests, namely the ‘resort fee’.
The
resort fee is a mandatory tax that the vast majority of hotels in
Vegas (both on The Strip and downtown) now charge for so called
‘extras’ that you’ll enjoy during the duration of your trip,
typically Wi-Fi access in the room, a ‘free’ daily newspaper,
access to the gym, free local calls...... and that’s about it!
This typically costs between $15 and $30 per day (plus tax) depending
on the star rating of the property and will usually be charged when
you check out.
If
you’re already thinking along the lines of “what a rip-off”
you’re not alone. I absolutely detest this fee and it really does
leave a sour taste in my mouth knowing that you’re really just
being taken for a ride, especially as most visitors will rarely be
able to say they get their monies worth from the fee. Unfortunately,
there’s very little you can do about it unless you’re able to get
the fee waived using the $20 trick, or if you book through an agent
where the fee is explicitly stated as being included in the overall
price.
It
goes without saying that the resort fees really need to be included
as part of your calculations when you’re working out budgets for
what to spend on hotel bookings. If you’re staying for a week in,
say, the MGM Grand (charging $25 per night plus tax), that’s nearly
an additional $190 (£120) to add on for your week’s stay – worth
bearing in mind!

part of them, you can checkout the following site:
