Vegas Baby!
What can I say - I LOVE VEGAS! Having travelled from the UK to Vegas on 6 separate occasions and having spent over 50 days there, it’s safe to say that it’s my favourite holiday destination and I don’t tire of going back. Sure, I appreciate it’s not everyone’s idea of the dream holiday destination. Others prefer a more laid-back all inclusive beach holiday and some feel that once they’ve been to Vegas for a few nights as part of west coast fly-drive they’ve had their fill.
To me Vegas has everything I want from a holiday. Which other holiday destination in the world could you head for and be all but guaranteed to have perfect clear skies, the chance to stay in a genuine 5 star resort for less than £100 a night, spend a morning doing a bit of shopping, relax in the afternoon by a gorgeous pool area with waitress drinks service before getting ready to head out in the evening for a lovely meal followed up with taking in a world renowned show or concert act, before finally lapping up a bit of late night gambling with the opportunity to meet interesting people from across the world. Of course, that’s just one example of how to spend a day in Vegas, but there are literally hundreds of ways you could spend a day in and around the town - That’s Vegas baby!
So why do this site?
I started putting this site together on the back of a website my wife and I did in advance of our wedding in Vegas in 2011. We had a number of family and friends who were coming out to share our big day, most of who hadn’t been to Vegas before and we wanted to try and share as much information and useful hints and tips as we could. After all, I’d already been to Vegas a few times at this point.
Our wedding came and went – we had an amazing time out there by the way – and the website soon mothballed and wasn’t really used again. That is until I learned a number of people at my place of work were planning to head to Vegas. I started offering them some useful hints when I spoke to them, but was concerned about bombarding them with unwanted information – nobody likes a no-it-all do they!? I therefore pointed them in the direction of our old wedding website, but then I realised that I rather enjoyed playing the role of travel advisor, so why not translate the old website and turn it into a dedicated website that can help other people plan their trip and avoid many of the rookie mistakes that are so easy to make.
But, I’m not one of those people. I often get asked by friends and family; “You’re not going back AGAIN are you – why!?” Well, that’s a good question – why do I (and my wife I should add) keep going back to Vegas? It’s a tricky one to summarise in a few sentences, but here goes.
